Kai's Chess Setup Guide

Create your own AR VR Chess Set that you will use to compete against others locally or over the internet.

Kai’s Clan uses an innovative approach to playing Chess over the internet and this guide will teach you how to build your chess set with special QR codes, then how to set up Kai’s Eye app that will be used to track the chess piece QR codes and then show you how to play against others and even animate your virtual chess.

Why do we use QR codes? Just like in an Amazon Warehouse we use the same system to track items, in our case chess pieces. By using QR codes, we can get an exact location where the chess is. This can then be used to locate exactly where the Chess Avatar is sitting and we ensure that it tracks against the exact position of where the chess piece is on the board/mat.

What you need

  • 2 or 4 pieces of white Letter or A4 cardstock (4 pieces for a full chess set)

  • Print out the QR codes for the chess set, preferably onto white A4 or Letter card stock.  http://kaisclan.ai/downloads/Chess_QR_Markers.pdf
